Brunswick Bowling and Rovio Entertainment Ltd. Announce Angry Birds Bowling

MUSKEGON, Mich., May 20, 2016 – Brunswick Bowling and Rovio Entertainment announced today a partnership that will bring one of the world’s best-selling mobile games to the lanes.

Angry Birds Bowling is the latest addition to Brunswick Bowling’s Sync Scoring and Management System. Based on the classic 2D character animations from the world famous mobile game franchise, Angry Birds Bowling features the same frustrated birds and persistent pigs currently starring in The Angry Birds Movie arriving in theaters nationwide today. The game, in which pin action causes the pigs’ structures to collapse, is sure to thrill fans of the original game and its many spinoffs and attract more customers to Sync-equipped bowling centers.

“Brunswick is committed to helping improve our customers’ business,” said Brandon Meigs, director of product development, Brunswick Bowling. “We developed Sync specifically to drive traffic, encourage incremental spending, and increase frequency of visits. With Angry Birds Bowling, we’re tapping into the immense popularity of Angry Birds, the power of its brand, and its loyal following to further deliver on the brand promise of Sync. We’re honored that Rovio approached us for this opportunity.”

“We chose Brunswick because we wanted to partner with the bowling industry leader, and because the Sync platform and graphics meet our high quality standards,” said Darren Kyman, Head of Retail & New Business Development, North America at Rovio Entertainment. “We are very pleased that Brunswick’s creative vision for Angry Birds Bowling ensures an outstanding and consistent experience for Angry Birds fans.”

Brunswick will roll out a marketing campaign this month designed to drive traffic to Sync Scoring centers equipped with Angry Birds Bowling. The campaign will include in-theater advertising, as well as digital and social media elements.

“Sync creates a better bowler experience for all customers, from league to casual bowlers,” said Meigs. “With Angry Birds Bowling and other engaging games for all ages, Sync encourages customers to stay longer, spend more, and come back again and again.”

Angry Birds Bowling will debut and be available for demos at the International Bowl Expo, the bowling industry’s biggest trade show, in Las Vegas June 29 – 30, 2016. Fans looking for an Angry Birds fix before then can check out The Angry Birds Movie, in theaters across the U.S. today.
