The tournament’s qualifying round starts Tuesday, Sept. 13 with the last squad scheduled for 9 p.m. (21:00) on Saturday, Sept. 17. Qualifying will officially end after the one-game Desperado Squad on Saturday night, slated for 00.30 p.m. An 8-pin handicap for female players will be added to each game, a standard on the European Bowling Tour. A total of 36 players, the top 32 from the overall qualifying standings and the top 4 from the Desperado Squad, will qualify for the finals on Sunday, Sept. 18.

The “Cosmic Belaya Dacha” bowling center, one of the largest bowling facilities in Moscow, will be the new host of the Russian Open. The center opened in December of 2007 and is located in Moscow’s popular shopping mall “Mega Belaya Dacha”. The 30-lane house is fully Brunswick-equipped featuring Anvilane® lanes, the Vector® scoring system and the ever reliable Brunswick GSX ® pinsetters with Brunswick Score King® pins. The tournament organizers rely on the Brunswick Authority22 system to provide excellent and consistent lane conditions for competing bowlers.

The Eurocity hotel (www.eurociti.ru) has been selected as the official tournament hotel. The 3-star house is in close proximity of the “Cosmic Belaya Dacha” bowling center with convenient access to the Moscow Domodedovo international airport. The hotel offers special rates and discounts for Russian Open participants.

The tournament will be covered live at www.bowling.ru, featuring frequent news updates and results posted after each squad. Additionally, bowling fans around the world will be able to follow tournament scores via Brunswick’s online scoring feature, accessible through the above mentioned web-site and at www.cosmik.ru and www.brunswick.ru. Brunswick Bowling is the general partner of the Russian Open tournament. During the tournament Brunswick will organize several seminars and master-classes for bowlers, pro-shop operators and technical staff of bowling centers. For the first time ever in Russia, Brunswick, in cooperation with the Russian Sport Bowling Federation, will offer a seminar entirely devoted to tournament lane conditioning entitled “Technical aspects of tournament lane preparation”.

Additionally, bowlers are welcome to take part in a presentation of the new performance bowling balls from Brunswick. The organizers of the Russian Open and Brunswick Bowling aspire to provide a high standard and fun event for all participating bowlers and visitors. The second edition of the Russian Open, which started as the 1st Pavlovsky Posad Open in 2010, aims to further establish itself on the European bowling circuit and to underline its significance for the European bowling community. Last year bowlers from 8 countries participated in the tournament, with Russia’s Ivan Semenov claiming the top prize. With the new, attractive location and its status as a fixture on the EBT calendar, the Russian Open is certain to attract bowling players from all across Europe and is expected to draw a record number of participants in 2011.
