Brunswick Names Boondocks Center Of Excellence

Brunswick selects just one of the thousands of bowling centers in North America each year to receive its distinguished Center of Excellence Award. “With so many outstanding centers, this is always a difficult choice,” said Brunswick Bowling president Brent Perrier. The award is given to a center that excels in all areas, from cutting-edge design to smart marketing to exemplary customer service. The 2012 Brunswick Center of Excellence Award goes to Boondocks Fun Center, Northglenn, Colo., in recognition of its across-the-board achievement.

“Boondocks puts its commitment to providing excellent family entertainment front-and-center in its mission statement. More importantly, they walk-the-talk by making every patron truly feel like a guest,” said John Roush, Brunswick director of sales/Western region, who nominated the center. “Boondocks provides high-quality entertainment, friendly crew members and outrageously good service. Also, I’ve seen the back of the house of many entertainment centers, but I’ve never seen more detailed attention paid to maintenance and cleanliness than here.”

Boondocks has two other centers located in Kaysville and Draper, Utah. The Kaysville location, which opened in November 2009, was the first to offer bowling. The success of that move convinced Boondocks’ owners Damon Day and Randy Fullmer to add bowling lanes to the Northglenn location, which also boasts several outdoor attractions including two 18-hole miniature golf courses, a 100,000-gallon bumper boat pond and three different go-kart tracks for drivers of different ages and heights. “The new bowling lanes are a great fit, with strong appeal to those who know and like our brand,” said Day. “We like the seasonal balance that bowling provides to our outdoor attractions.”

The renovation added 12,000 square feet to Boondocks Northglenn location, housing 20 bowling lanes plus a new corporate event center and two state-of-the-art meeting rooms.

Day and Fullmer began as contractors, building outdoor family fun centers for nearly two decades before opening their own. During their recent transition into the bowling business, the entrepreneurs turned to Brunswick to leverage its market leadership. “We couldn’t be more pleased with the professionalism, experience, expertise and support that Brunswick provided throughout the process,” said Day. The addition of bowling rounds out Boondocks’ appeal – and helped single them out for attention as this year’s Center of Excellence Award winner. However, they are not about to rest on their laurels. “This investment is part of our ongoing evaluation of our business, finding ways to improve and differentiate ourselves from our competition,” Fullmer said. “Keeping things new and fresh is a large part of this effort. Service and facility upgrades that enhance the guests’ experience – like adding the Brunswick lanes and amenities – are essential to the continued success of our business.”
