Two-piece distributor pulley installation

Follow the steps below to change the original pulleys to the new two-piece pulley design.

*Tools required: *

  • Safety glasses
  • Sharp wood chisel
  • Hammer
  • #5 metric hex-key
  • Two #10 metric combination wrenches

Step 1:
Disconnect power from the pinsetter (Figure 1). When replacing pulleys on the front distributor shaft, remove the dustpan and pin deck lights from the fixture. This will allow greater access for the repair.

Step 2
Remove green belt tension from the pulley (Figure 2).

Step 3
After belt has been removed use a # 5 metric hex-key to loosen and remove the clamp from the pulley. Keep the clamp, so you can reinstall on the new replacement pulley (Figure 3 and 4).

Step 4
Wear Safety Glasses! Using a sharp wood chisel and hammer, strike at the top and split one side of the pulley. Turn the pulley and strike the opposite end continuing until pulley is split in half. Remove pulley from pinsetter (Figure 5).

Step 5
With the defective pulley removed, install the new pulley using two #10 metric combination wrenches and the hardware provided in the kit (Figure 6).

Step 6
After installing, realign new pulley with the guide the green belt rides on. Reinstall clamp and tighten. When replacing the pulleys on the front distributor shaft, reinstall green belt, dustpan and pin deck lights (Figure 7). The repair is now complete. Remove green belt tension from the pulley (Figure 2).
